Dan could hear the smile in Ethan’s voice. “I’d like that. Before I forget, your mother called. She wants you to call her back.”

After saying goodbye to Ethan, he called his mother and talked briefly. He had hardly seen her since they had started working on the house and, feeling guilty, he invited her out for dinner that evening. A quick call to Ethan confirmed that he could go with them before he picked up his laptop to go to the conference room and his meeting.

Back in his office after the meeting, he fought back a case of nerves. He was facing a huge project, the largest of his career, the one that would most likely make or break him, and he was in charge of a crew with mixed talents. The larger departments each had a dedicated computer support position, and he felt reasonably comfortable with them. Vickie from the lab and Susan from Radiology seemed to be particularly strong, having each gone through the last two major updates. They both seemed competent and comfortable with the process and would be able to do their own parts of the update and act as resources for the newer members of the group. The smaller departments, though, only had part-time computer support within the departments.
